Das Weingut La Carbonera liegt im baskischen Teil der Rioja. Die Reben wachsen hier höher, auf kalkreichen Böden und liefern elegante, ausdrucksvolle Weine. Früher war das Gebiet Weideland. Bis die Hirten Lust auf den Weinanbau bekamen und eine bis heute lebendige Tradition begründeten. Torres widmet diesen malos pastores (dt. schlechte Hirten) einen wunderschönen Crianza: Malpastor. Der sortenreine Tempranillo vereint Tradition und Moderne mit perfekter Balance von Reife und Frische. Nach der Vergärung im Edelstahltank und langem Hefelager in Beton und Holz, wird der Wein gut zwölf Monate in französischer und amerikanischer Eiche sowie mindestens sechs weitere Monate in der Flasche ausgebaut, bis er endlich kirschrot im Glas leuchtet. Seidig, lebendig, mit üppiger Frucht und sanften Reifenoten.
